Internet and the World Wide Web
Use a localised search engine to restrict hits to your country of interest - eg try google.com.au or google.co.uk rather than the more general google.com
Also, try adding into your search "family history" (in quotes) or genealogy (even mis-spelling it 'geneology' finds a few)

- Google (Australia) http://www.google.com.au (also try .co.uk & .co.nz)

- Google Genealogy Searcher http://www.searchforancestors.com/google/searcher.html (useful, but be wary of disguised links to Ancestry.com)
