Robert MARSDEN was born c1797 at Nateby, Lancashire (England). In 1861 he was a sawyer, farming 2.5 acres at Garstang. His son John MARSDEN was also a sawyer, but he lived most of his adult life at Claughton. He married Jane PEDDER and they had children Ellen, Robert and William. In 1881 John was working as a Paper Mill Labourer. By 1901 the family was living in Preston.
Robert MARSDEN married Margaret FAZACKERLEY in Preston. They had children Richard, John Fazackerly, Robert, William, Lucy Ann, James, Frank and Nellie.
Robert's wife, Margaret FAZACKERLEY, was the daughter of Richard FAZACKERLEY who was a publican and ran the "New Ship Inn" in Preston.
