Our SEED ancestors descend from John SEED who was married in 1673 in Ribchester, Lancashire (England). The family continued to live in this old Roman town until about 1760, when the family moved to the nearby bigger town of Preston. In 1766 James SEED married Dorothy MARSDEN in the parish church of St John's, Preston.
Their oldest son was Henry, who married Margaret. Their son John (a labourer) moved back to Ribchester, where he married Jane MAYMON. Their oldest son was Edward, a blacksmith at Chadwick's Orchard, who married Alice WYKE, the weaver. Their daughter Jane SEED (a dressmaker) married Robert KELLETT, a master tailor, in St Walburge's Church, Preston in 1864.
