Joseph Myers

Joseph MYERS was born around 1794 (some records say as late as 1803) in Amsterdam, in Holland. By 1830 he was working as a bootmaker in Aldgate, in the East End of London (England). His wife's name was Julia (nee DAVIS), his sister was named Hannah. Also living with them for a while was Joseph's nephew, Myer MYERS.

Joseph and Julia had children Ann, Rosetta, Amelia, Rachael, Nathan, Samuel, Rachael, Rebecca, Simon, Solomon and Abraham.

Their son Samuel MYERS was born around 1831 in Aldgate, London. Samuel also was working as a bootmaker in the Spitalfields area of London when he married Leah LYONS (daughter of Joseph and Mary) in the Great Synagogue of London. Samuel later described himself as a "boot rivetter" living in Mile End, New Town, London.
